Raymond graduated from The George Washington University in Washington, DC with a bachelor’s degree in Business Economics and Public Policy. He then took a year off after college and worked for Steptoe & Johnson, a large international law firm in Washington, DC. There he worked on a multi billion dollar matter between McDonnell Douglass and Northrup involving litigation over the F-18 Fighter Plane and F-20 Tiger Shark. He also worked for clients such as the countries of Taiwan, Soviet Union and East Germany.
After Steptoe & Johnson, Raymond went to Rutgers University Law School. While there, he worked for The United States Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia where he worked on all aspects of criminal and civil matters for the United States Government. He graduated Law School in 1988.
After Law School, Raymond did a judicial clerkship with Honorable Edward W. Beglin, Jr., the Assignment Judge for Union County. There are only twelve (12) Assignment Judges in the State of New Jersey. There, Raymond worked on both Criminal and Civil matters.
After his one year clerkship, Raymond went to work for Lindabury, McCormick & Estabrook, a large general practice law firm in Westfield. Raymond worked there from 1989 until 1995 and then started the Law Office of Raymond A. Grimes in 1995.
Raymond has many memberships including The Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which is exclusively for attorneys who have received verdicts in excess of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000). Raymond tried a case for three weeks in Manhattan on the New York Stock Exchange on a securities fraud matter and received a verdict of One Million Four Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($1,450,000.00). Less than 2% of attorneys in the United States have earned this type of recognition by conducting a trial and receiving a verdict in excess of one million dollars.
